Confessions Of A My Girl: I Gained The Quarantine 15...On Purpose

· ·

Ladies!

I'm sure by now, every single one of you has heard the fearful weight gain term "Quarantine 15". If not, you may be willingly living under a rock - which I don't judge you for because #2020 man.

Anyways, the other week I was catching up with my dear friend Madi Teeuws. For those of you who don't know Madi (@madtev), she's an extremely talented model in Los Angeles and a health coach in training due to her huge passion for the wellness space. We were laughing about all of the great meals and drinks we had been demolishing during the past few months of quarantine. I threw around the whole "fearful" weight gain topic that so many of my friends have been trying to dodge during this time and Madi's response was so unexpected that I just had to share. She confessed verbatim "I gained the Quarantine 15...On Purpose". This was the first time I had ever heard anyone tell me they actually chose to gain weight. It felt new and refreshing to hear those words - then suddenly something just clicked. We SHOULD be able to view and normalize weight gain from a positive perspective. Gaining a few of those extra lbs. CAN be something we are proud of. Why aren't we able to do this more and how can we get there?

To further this discussion, Madi and I decided to have a separate girl to girl chat to tackle this stigma that all weight gain is deemed "bad". We dove into her challenging journey through the modeling industry, a semi-new disordered eating term "orthorexia", and how she's chosen to let go of control in order to truly enjoy life with every bite. Here's how it went down.
